All right guys, welcome back to the Laundry Room Diaries, the new chapter edition. I'm Angela McKay, your host, and I'm here with you today. I'm 50, I'm fired up and I started a new chapter just recently, after a year ago, walking away from a multi seven figure business business. Today we're going to be talking about branding, and not just any branding, but branding that you actually love, branding that makes you feel like you, that works while you sleep, that converts without burning you out and, friend, it positions you in that genius zone of what you love and what you know, without making you feel like you need to show up 24, seven. And, yes, ai is changing the game, and I know this. This episode is going to be really exciting and it's going to allow you to see how you can build your brand from scratch or rebirth that new purpose or maybe new chapter you have, and really save you not only time, but it's also going to save you stress. So I'm excited about this episode.
Speaker 1:Branding is my passion as a brand coach and strategist, and so we're just going to dive into it today. So why does branding matter more than ever? Well, let's face it, the game's changed. You know, 10 years ago, branding looked a lot different and just even a few years ago, branding met like pretty logos, maybe a matched Instagram grid. But now branding is your identity online, guys. It is your voice, it's your story, it's your offer. It's how people feel when they land on your page, hear your podcast or enter that sales funnel. And if you're in direct sales affiliate marketing, coaching, wellness or any kind of personal brand your brand is your asset. And guess what? Copy and paste captions, cookie cutter content. You know it just doesn't cut it anymore, and so I feel like it's so important to understand. We're in a world where people want real, they want to connect, they want to have clarity and understand, and so if your brand feels off, it's probably just not attracting the right people and it doesn't feel aligned. And that is so important to understand, because I sat in a space for a year where my brand felt very out of alignment. I felt burnout and I knew it was time to do something different. But because we're here and we're going to talk about the truth, let's just face it People, they just don't buy products anymore, they buy into you, and so your brand is your number one tool, and so that's why I lean into this so much with my coaching clients. When they're sitting there saying I'm not getting the conversions I used to, I always say when was the last time we refreshed a brand? When did we actually look at your brand messaging and not all the fluffy stuff of logos and aesthetics, but that connection point, that voice, that purpose, that mission statement when was the last time you did that? And oftentimes people will have a brand that's gone stagnant and it sat there for years and they're just repurposing what they branded. But they forget that we grow. We grow as entrepreneurs and when we grow we change and therefore our brand has to grow and change with us. And so let's just talk about the brand rebuild story.
Speaker 1:You know, when I walked away from my business, it was kind of challenging because, you know, I didn't just leave a comp plan, an income or a team. I left an incomplete identity for who I was known for for a decade. And at first it was kind of like having I called it a midlife career crisis, because all of a sudden all that was stripped away and I was sitting there kind of in a very vulnerable spot saying like who am I now? What do I stand for, what is my purpose and what is my brand voice and guys, I was quiet for some time because I didn't have that clarity and I knew I was going to have to rebuild. I needed a brand that really reflected the version of me today, not the woman that I was 10 years ago or even two years ago. And so I sat down and I really got clear on my mission and I wanted to really understand. And so I sat down and said you know what is my goal? Well, I want to help women. I want to help them reset their health and their hormones. I want them to reclaim their time. I want to help them build businesses, but I want them to work smarter with systems using automation, ai, to have true time freedom.
Speaker 1:I was over the hype and hustle era and so I was very much on a mission to simplify and duplicate, but I was also seeking a place of simplicity, right and health and restoration and all this stuff that I needed to put myself in a good space, not only to be a great entrepreneur. I had to feel great within my own body and self, and so, as a midlife or at 50, I knew I had a lot of work to do. I told my husband. I said, boy, I am like ripping off the bandaid here, because I'm on a health journey, I'm on a brand journey, I'm on a new business journey. We have kids leaving the nest. It's just, it was like whoa, like Calgon, take me away.
Speaker 1:But guys, the reality is, is that what? What we used to do when we'd sit down and build a brand used to take a lot of time and I started to pay attention to the trends of chat, gpt, ai, automation systems and I got really intrigued about working smarter. I thought, if I'm going to build my brand this time I'm building with experience. I'm reframing my mission because I've grown a lot over the last year and I wanted to show up differently. I didn't want to show up as the boss babe, like I was done with that era. I wanted to show up authentically helping women, empower them and really walking beside them, kind of on a journey, guiding them by experience, but really as as a partner in their business. When they're hiring me as a coach, I'm with them as a partner. I'm not here to say, go, take, you know, crazy photos and live online. Go live every day and forget about the family or use your vacations, but create massive content and you look up and you're like gosh, did I even enjoy my vacation? I've been in those seasons and that was not what I wanted, and so I knew that this was going to allow me to start to show up differently.
Speaker 1:And when I saw the power of AI, I thought this is game changing. This is really exciting, because now we have a way to show up and we can outsource some of these things but still have our authentic voice, and I knew that this was going to be a really exciting chapter. Now, how is AI changing branding? Just in that little space, it's changing everything. Right, let's face it, it is one of the fastest things that are happening right now in business and in life. Every time you look up, there's a new app, there's a new thing to say, a new prompt. It's like you got to stay on the front end of it or you're already behind, and so you know.
Speaker 1:I'm going to talk to you about how I use it and how I feel like it allows to compliment me authentically and allows me to work smart and to show up consistently, because being authentic and being consistent are the two main ingredients for success. People want to know who you are and they want to see you. They want to see you and for a while, like I didn't have the brand shoot, like I was recycling old photos have you ever done that? We're like gosh. I'm I am abusing this photo shoot from two years ago.
Speaker 1:How can I make this look relevant when it felt very non-relevant and and I don't have time to do an expensive brand shoot I don't have time to get a blowout and get my nails done, get makeup and go on on like a location and and do all the outfit changes and pose and oh, I've done it, guys. I've spent thousands of dollars and I directed those for people and and although they're, they're very empowering and there's times when, yes, that's necessary the reality is is people aren't going to do that multiple times a year like they used to, because it's just too much. It's just too much. Most people say that's overwhelming to me and, let's face it, people are more mindful of where they're placing their dollars, and so, instead of that, I found an alternative to help my clients so that we could take a brand shoot one time a year and I can help use AI and prompt and create massive content for them. But they're not on location, but they're fresh and they're not abusing that same old picture, thinking like boy. Everyone's seen this.
Speaker 1:I don't know how to make this seem interesting anymore, and if you feel that, I want you to know that you're not alone, because this is all still very new and it's rapidly changing. And some people think, like AI is going to take over the world. No, it's not. It's not going to take over the world, but you either are going to work for AI or AI is going to work for you, and I chose the latter of the two and thought this is a very sophisticated tool, and I saw the power of positioning my brand and accentuating it with tools and resources that allowed me to show up better and still be authentic and consistent, and so I just think it's really exciting that it's amplifying everything and we're in a season of rebuilding and we're doing it at a speed that supports the speed of what's happening in the world.
Speaker 1:With AI and brand growth right. The competition's thick out there. It's a noisy internet and you've got to stand out, and so you know, I want you to understand. Showing up in your own voice, with your own story and with your own style, is key, and I love that. When you have brand identity, you can take that into the AI factor and still show up authentically as you and really connect with that audience. And that's one thing I really work with people is to say keep those pillars to keep that brand identity in alignment, but learn how to create content that doesn't look like templates or you know, the faceless generic stuff that we can pop in here and there, but if you really want to connect with your audience, they want to see you, and so how do you start to rebuild your brand and fall in love with it?
Speaker 1:Well, you know, for me, you're, if you're in a rebrand, a rebuild or rebrand season. I guess is what I want to say, guys. Um, you just want to work with the brand identity. You want to take a 20 foot look at where you're at and revisit those goals, the vision, your purpose and your mission in your business, because we all have something super unique to us. We all carry a brand, whether you're, whether you're putting it out there or not, you are a brand. You are it. My friend, I always tell people if you don't know who your brand is, look in the mirror, because that girl is who your brand is. We just need to bring it out and bring it into your brand messaging and content. And so you know you want to get clear on who you serve and what transformations you deliver.
Speaker 1:So don't don't do vague things like I help everyone that's noise Like I feel like when people just put that in their, their bio. Or like you know, I help women build businesses. What women, what businesses? How do you help you know? Dive deeper and get more specific. Be precise. The brand starts with your promise. So if you're saying I help women build bold, purpose-filled I always say purpose-driven brands I think they're like a woman that sees me goes wow. I want to be bold, I want to stand out, I want to have purpose. I don't want it just to be about income. I want it to out. I want to have purpose. I don't want it just to be about income. I want it to have an impact. I want to be somebody that does something and makes an impact in someone's life beyond the paycheck. They're going to resonate with my content and they're going to reach out because they're going to say that is exactly what I want to do. But if I just put I help women build brands, women are going to be like what women, what kind of brands like, what do you do? And they'll probably just scroll on. And I know this because there was a season where I did that. I was a little vague and I didn't understand that I really had to. Not don't be afraid to niche down. Some people like that that word has a bad rap but I think it's more about just having clarity and what we're offering, so that the customer or the prospect says and sees themselves in that opportunity to work with you.
Speaker 1:The other thing is to audit your current online presence. I did this and it was like, you know, I feel like it's picking up an old journal and reading back. And when I got online and I had kind of like abandoned ship on Instagram for a year, I had deleted my TikTok because I was like I don't know what I'm doing over there. I don't even know if I want to do TikTok. But you know, facebook's always been one of my main spaces. That's where I grew 98% of my business and my network marketing space, and I get brand clients still today on Facebook because it's very relationship, but it's also where a lot of my key audience sits. So you have to understand that and so I committed to one an audit what platforms do I want to grow? What ones are not just for me, but where are my people hanging out? And then what? How do I create a system to showing up? And so I dove into that. I audited, I rebranded, I refreshed everything.
Speaker 1:When it got done, it's like it felt like a clean closet. If you're a woman, you understand. When you go in, you're like oh, I can find my favorite outfit, it makes sense in here. But sometimes our brand feels like a messy closet, it feels like chaos, it feels like I don't even know clutter, like I don't even know what I'm saying anymore. There's so much happening here, and so when we work together, I'm really kind of helping you declutter all the distractions so that you can really dive in and focus right in the lane of your expertise or genius. And so when you define that, all of a sudden there's a clearing that happens. There's a clearing that happens and it feels like you can finally breathe and you finally know how to show up. Like, all of a sudden, you're like proud to be like hey, I'm on Facebook again. Hey, this is my Instagram handle. Come check me out, because all of a sudden, you have purpose with every post, you have a mission with every post. You, you know who you're speaking to, so the words flow freely. There is just an ebb and flow that happens with clarity, and so I encourage you guys to really focus in on.
Speaker 1:I'm asking yourself like, when I talk about my brand, do I feel overwhelmed, heavy, I'm stumbling over words? I feel cluttered, I feel uncertain, there's confusion? If that's the case, it's time for a brand refresh, or I like to call a rebuild, and so it's really important to understand that. And you know, does your website, does your Instagram, does your sales pages? Does it all reflect who you are today? And that's one thing I do with my clients as I walk them through.
Speaker 1:After we do this strategy and we have this clarity point, we really look in and we start to set up really your systems, your brand systems, which are your assets, and do they make sense? Are they reflecting your current brand today? And we audit and we make it wonderful. And then you go on to the next moment of using these tools that we have, these amazing AI tools to strategically start to grow yourself using tools like chat, tpt, canva, magic, jasper, brandwise. I mean, there's so many things out there that you can use to help you brainstorm, to really find out how to build, to create content, to really create strategic keyword and hashtag strategy, messaging. You know deliverables. All of this can really be easy with chat, gpt or AI, when you understand what you're trying to do. And then it's just the fun part starts to happen.
Speaker 1:Right, you design the long-term game and I love this because all of a sudden, you've got like all these pieces coming together and all of a sudden you're like, oh, there's like this magical moment where it's like, oh, I see it now, I see it all. It's all coming together. Everything feels clean and clarified, like the closet's organized. The social media makes sense, the messaging makes sense, the way I speak makes sense. I'm talking, it's not hard to say because it's authentic and I'm showing up more consistently because it's not stressful. And all of a sudden, you're like wow, and I've got AI here and I've got strategy, and it's like it's fun again, like you get a fire in your belly again. All of a sudden, you're like I have a reason to show up online. It's no longer like this thorn in your side, but it's really what activates the next chapter.
Speaker 1:And so, designing that long game in mind your brand, your business, that first impression, investing time and building something you're proud of, that looks and feels and and it just it really sells you like you are, like it's not gimmicky, it's not fake, it's, it's authentic. Guys, that's, that's the goal, that is, that is the sweet spot of success when you get to that point. And so you know branding services like where do you start If you don't have a brand? We have to start with brand. You know development. It's not logos and fonts and colors and all that. Those are aesthetics. It's a very little, tiny part of that.
Speaker 1:But really diving into your purpose, your voice, what's your mission, who are you helping? Really getting brand identity and clarity in place is the first part. After that, we start building upon that foundation with assets and goals, sales strategies, systems, using things like AI tools and other things to grow your expertise. And then friend, the aesthetics come in. Or you know how to create the content that connects, how to show up. What ways are you showing up, what platforms are you showing up? It's amazing. It's amazing what happens through the whole process and and I love it because it doesn't matter like where you're at, it's where you're ready to start today, like, sometimes it's a refresh, sometimes it's a. It's a it's an actual starting point, and sometimes it's like me, I had to rebuild. I had to rebuild to the version I am today Not the girl I was, the woman I was a year or two ago, because a lot has happened and so you have to get that in alignment.
Speaker 1:And so what I would say is is wherever you're at, if you're in wellness, if you're in direct sales, if you're a coach, if you're a small business owner, you know like we offer this opportunity to help you put your brand and your brand voice into the market with content strategy, brand design, web design. You know assets like photos, logos, all that. That's what I offer to my clients, and so I want you to understand. You don't need to be duct taped to together anymore, feeling like I just I'm falling apart, I'm trying to survive, I'm burnout, I'm struggling, I don't know what I stand for anymore. You just don't need that. You need a system and you need strategies that work, and that's what I'm here to help you do, and so you know this is your new chapter. Here to help you do, and so you know this is your new chapter.
Speaker 1:If you're hearing this today. I hope this is a put a little bit of a a breath of fresh air into your body. Like I'm not alone. This is normal. There's seasons for everything and that you may be entering a new chapter. You've grown. Celebrate that. You've changed, celebrate that, but also understand that you don't have to shrink into something old. You don't have to stay somewhere that you no longer fit. Instead, I want you to rise out of that and become something new. That's how God has designed us. We are to grow, you know, and to blossom.
Speaker 1:And every experience and every hardship that I've looked over the last year and a half, looking back, were growing pains, right. They allowed me to become stronger, they allowed me to become better. They allowed me to clarify. They allowed me to become stronger. They allowed me to become better. They allowed me to clarify, they allowed me to understand and empathize and really even heal guys. And from there a new chapter has come and it feels so good. It feels so good because there was healing and there was growth, and now I'm ready for this next, this next chapter in my life, and so I would ask you you know how do you want to show up in your world and what does that brand look like to you?
Speaker 1:Like, what does that look like to you? Do you have any idea? Do you have clarity or do you need a little help with that? Because, regardless of where you're at, we all hold a brand, we all have our own brand and we have this ability and this gift and this message to put out to the world. And sometimes it's just identifying that gift, it's identifying that message and who we're to share it with, and so, if this is something that's pulling at your heart, I want to encourage you to reach out to me. I would love to give you a 15 minute discovery call, just a chat, to ask a couple questions to see if this is the next step in your business and what you need to do with your brand, where is your brand at, and get a good idea of where you're at in the process and maybe what next goals are to be had for your branding space. And, like always, guys, I just am passionate about this topic.
Speaker 1:Branding is never going to go away. There's always going to be businesses, there's always going to be entrepreneurs. Therefore, there's always going to be brand and brand strategy and, with the ever-changing world of AI, automation, business and things like that. The one thing I know is that when you build a brand, people stick with you. I talk a lot with my network marketers about this, because it's so important to brand yourself.
Speaker 1:I see so many people branding a company and I see companies go away and then the brands go away and I see people's dreams follow that suit because they didn't have clarity on who they were. They are the brand. Your company is a supplier. You're choosing to point to that wellness product or that beauty product or whatever that is. But if, for some reason, if that would go away, by choice or by force if a company decides to go away guess what force? If a company decides to go away, guess what? If you have a solid brand, you own the real estate. That means social media can go away. Your company can go away, but if you have your brand and you have your brand assets, like a website and email list and your brand identity, your voice will carry on and your people will be there for you. And that, my friend, is business insurance that every entrepreneur needs right now, today. So, with that being said, thank you guys for being here today.
Speaker 1:Tomorrow, we've got some great things, kind of gearing up for the high school season here and motherhood. I'm going to be talking to you guys about how to like kind of run your business as a busy mom. If you know me, I've got seven kiddos and so I often get the DM of how do you do it. And let me tell you, friend, I do it imperfectly, but I've embraced that imperfect perfection because we're real right, and so I'm going to share some of my major tips and how to really run your business from home without feeling like you're off balance and showing up and knowing when to not show up, and putting some healthy boundaries into space. And then also, on Friday is Freebie Friday.
Speaker 1:This is something new I'm doing in this new chapter, where I want to give you assets. I'm going to give you resources that have helped me because I believe in paying it forward. I want to give you value. That's what I want this podcast to be. I don't want it just to be another place and space to listen to some hyped up, positive inspiration and then you go on your next day. I want it to be layered layered with strategy, layered with resources and layered with value.
Speaker 1:And so every Friday I have what's called the social impactor society, the CIS club. It's a free membership. Um, business resources are in there. If you want to get in there, you can see it in the show notes. You can join the community for free and every Friday I drop a freebie in that space. And so this Friday I've got a branding clarifying workbook that's going to help you fall in love with your brand. It's going to start to work you through kind of like the first phase of the process of branding that I would do with a client, and it's going to help you start to get some clarity on where you sit today with your brand. So all right, guys, that's what I have for you today. So make sure that you subscribe, and I'll be seeing you back here real soon with another great episode from the Laundry Room Diaries. Take care.
